Documentation for registration

Once accepted, you will receive your acceptation letter. Once you have it please start preparing the documentation for the registration as soon as possible (once you finish your degree). Take in to account that embassy processes can take months.

The documents must be presented at the Secretaria d’Estudiants on the first floor of the Facultat de Filosofia UB, in person or by certified mail to the following address:

Facultat de Filosofia
Secretaria d'Estudiants i Docència
C/ Montalegre, 6
08001 Barcelona (Spain)

Before sending the documents, or in order to make an appointment in advance, please contact the Secretaria d'Estudiants by writing to mastersfilosofia@ub.edu.

In the case that your title has not been issued by the Government of Spain, you need to submit the documents before July 28th 2024. Since the application must be signed by the Rector, and August is closed for admin procedures, it is advised to submit the documents as early as possible.

For registration, the submitted documents must be original copies. Regular photocopies or scanned documents sent by email will not be accepted.

Documentation for all students
  • Valid ID document
    • Spanish students or students registered as residents in Spain: ID (DNI) or residence card (NIE) and a copy.
    • EU students: photocopy of the passport or ID document issued in their country of origin.
    • Students from outside the EU: photocopy of the passport.

  • With a UB degree: the "expedient acadèmic" (transcript of grades) is enough.
  • With a non-UB degree: Original and photocopy of the title, or of the corresponding substitute certificate.

It is not necessary to provide this document if the degree title is after 1991 and if, at the time of enrolment, the UB is authorized to carry out the necessary checks through electronic consultation with the corresponding administration.
Students who request partial or total exemption from the payment of enrolment fees or a reduction in the fee per credit must also submit the supporting documentation stated in the applicable regulations.

  • Original and photocopy of the homologation credential, or the declaration of equivalence, issued by the Spanish Ministry of Universities.

  • The original degree certificate (and a copy). If the certificate is not in English, Spanish or Catalan you will need a certified translation of the original degree certificate.
  • An official document from the university certifying that the successful completion of your undergraduate studies qualifies you to begin a master level in the country in which your degree certificate was issued. This document must be presented in English, Spanish or Catalan. Please find some examples here.
  • When you present your documents, you will be required to pay the 'equivalence' fees (around €218.15); these fees can be paid either at the Secretaria d’Estudiants (by credit or debit card), or through the bank La Caixa. Once you have paid these fees, you will have to submit the payment receipt.
  • Depending on the country that has issued your title, you will need to "legalize" it or get the Hague Apostille. That is a process that is done by diplomatic channels. You can check all the information about legalization and the list of countries that need it here.

  • Original of the university degree title, or the corresponding provisional certificate. If the certificate is not in English, Spanish or Catalan you will also need a certified translation of the original degree certificate.
  • Original and photocopy of the transcript of records.
  • In many cases (depending on the country that has issued your title), documents must be legalized by the appropriate diplomatic channels (e.g. Hague apostille, Andrés Bello...). You can check all the information about legalization here. It takes time, start as soon as you finish your degree!!
  • An official document from the university certifying that the successful completion of your undergraduate studies qualifies you to begin a master level in the country in which your degree certificate was issued. • When you present your documents, you will be required to pay the 'equivalence' fees (around 200 euros); these fees can be paid for either at the Secretaria d’Estudiants (by credit or debit card), or through the bank La Caixa. Once you have paid these fees, you will have to submit the payment receipt (€218.15).
Notes

In some cases (depending on the country that has issued your title), documents must be legalized by the appropriate diplomatic channels (e.g. Hague apostille). Find more information regarding legalization procedures and apostille by a Spanish embassy [HERE].
If the documents were not issued in Spanish, Catalan or English, they must be submitted together with an official translation of the original legalized document in Spanish or Catalan.
Submitting an official translation of the documents does not waive the requirement to present the original document. Check the valid translation options HERE.
Certified copies are needed only if you cannot come to the Faculty's secretaria office in person to submit the original documents. If this is the case, and you send your documents by certified mail instead of submitting them in person, the administrative staff of the UB should enable you to pay the equivalent fees by Internet. To do that you must write to <mastersfilosofia@ub.edu>.
