PhD positions in Linguistics. Universities of Verona & Bozen/Bolzano

The University of Verona and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano have currently opened 7 PhD positions within their joint PhD programme in Linguistics. Selected PhD candidates will receive a 3-year fellowship.

The successful applicants are committed to conducting independent and original scientific research and participating in local, national, and international training activities to develop their potential. Given the multilingual environment of the programme, the application of international students with a good command of English and at least one second language (Italian or German) is encouraged.

Applications can be uploaded starting 12th April 2023. The deadline for online applications is 12th May 2023 (1p.m. Italian time, GMT+1). Only online applications through the university application system are accepted (do not send applications via e-mail). Information about candidacy can be found on the application website.

The selection procedure involves evaluation of the candidates' Master's theses, their research project as well as an online interview. For details see the application website.

One of the fellowships is reserved for a PhD project dedicated to the realization of a project in the context of the cooperation with the University of Marburg. For this project a good knowledge of German is required. Find more details here.

Candidates interested in this fellowship must indicate their preference in the application form.

A second fellowship is reserved for a PhD project dedicated to the realization of a project in the context of “Inclusive Humanities”. The project will develop linguistic research on the topics of inclusion and diversity, understood as otherness, marginality, and disability.

A third fellowship is reserved for a PhD project dedicated to the edition of Ladin texts of the 19th century. For this project a good knowledge of Ladin is required. Find more details here.
